SEED GERMINATION
Germination is the growth of a young plant from a seed. Sometimes we use the term sprout. Seeds of plants can remain dormant or inactive for sometime. However, they can be induced to germinate by supplying the right external factors such as oxygen, water, temperature and light. Oxygen and water supply the needed materials for cellular functions of the plants. Light supplies the necessary energy the plants need to carry out photosynthesis. However, some plants need darkness for them to germinate, so they are planted by farmers deeper in the soil.
